The 2010 Winter Olympics are incredible. Athletes are amazing, the competition is fierce and as I watch triumphant athletes, American 10 x GOLD X games and 2x Olympic Medalist, Shaun White, stands out for 2 reasons.
1. Dominance
As Americas most decelerated Alpine athlete, he has the style, skill, look and commitment to succeed.
Not only have his efforts solidified his place in Olympic and US Sports history, his half pipe dominance has the world class competition believing the fight for 2nd is the only option.
2. The STRENGTH of his COMMUNITY
Although his current community is large, it wasn't always this way.
Born in San Diego, Shaun had 2 major surgeries to repair a heart defect before his 1st birthday, at 4 yrs old his brother taught him how to snowboard, and by 6, his families dedication helped him win his first snowboarding championship. Sensing he had special talents, his mom sent a DVD of her son'sexploits to BURTON SNOWBOARDING Equip., and by his 13th birthday he had his first professional sponsorship, and the rest is history...
Although Shaun realized "his greatness" required skill, talent and hard work, he understood his greatest asset was his COMMUNITY. He quickly expanded his team to include family, friends, mentors, coaches, engineer's tacticians, and equipment suppliers, and he has never looked back.
